A sombre and sobering end to the year
As the year comes to a close, we can’t help but reflect on the tumultuous events that have unfolded over the past twelve months. From the global pandemic to political unrest, it has been a year filled with uncertainty and sadness.
The holiday season, typically a time of joy and celebration, feels different this year. With restrictions in place and many unable to see their loved ones, the festive spirit is dampened by a sense of isolation and longing.
As we look towards the new year, there is a collective hope for brighter days ahead. But for now, we must confront the harsh realities of the present moment and mourn the losses we have experienced.
Despite the challenges we have faced, we have also seen moments of resilience and compassion. Communities coming together to support one another, frontline workers risking their lives to save others, and individuals finding creative ways to stay connected in a time of physical distance.
It is a reminder that in our darkest moments, there is always light to be found. And as we bid farewell to this year, let us hold onto the lessons we have learned and carry them forward into the new year.
May we emerge from this difficult time stronger and more united than ever before. And may we never forget the lessons of 2020, as we strive to create a better world for all.
