Torvill & Dean and Wiegman recognised in New Year Honours

British figure skating legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, as well as Dutch football coach Sarina Wiegman, have been honoured in the New Year’s Honours list.

Torvill and Dean, who famously won gold at the 1984 Winter Olympics with their iconic Bolero routine, have been appointed as Dame and Knight respectively for their services to figure skating and charity work.

Wiegman, who guided the Netherlands women’s national team to victory at the 2017 UEFA Women’s Euro and the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, has been made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for her achievements in coaching and women’s football.
